Amanda Capra is a graduate of the Bay Area Center For Waldorf Teacher Training. She been teaching since 2017 in Waldorf Early Childhood as well as the grades at Singing Stones, Morning Tree School, East Bay Waldorf School and an internship at Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm. She now teaches at Wildcat Canyon Community School. Amanda is first aid and CPR certified. In August of 2019, Amanda created East Bay Forest School, a Waldorf inspired early childhood program. Prior to attending BACWTT she received her certification as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant from Bauman College, Berkeley in 2014. Additionally, Amanda has a strong background in the arts, earning a Bachelors in Fine Art from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 2011. Amanda is a dedicated wife and a loving mother to her son Ariah and daughter Zaylie, as well as her step sons Bix and Calin.
From an early age, Amanda has had the notion to be a teacher of the arts.
Throughout her grade schooling and into college, she has had a strong focus in art and movement. Amanda's passion for creating has always been her driving force. From painting and sculpture, knitting and crocheting, clothing/costume design and jewelry making, to ballet, tap and jazz dancing, to building sustainable structures, she shapes the world around her. Amanda has participated in sustainable structure builds around the world including, Fiji, Indonesia, and California. Amanda also has a passion for health and nutrition. She loves to cook and source products consciously.
At the age of 19, Amanda left her home in New York and traveled across the country to San Francisco California where she began attending the Academy of Art University. After graduating from AAU, she worked in NY’s fashion industry for 2 years before seeking a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle. Moving back to The Bay Area and settling in Berkeley, CA, she received her accreditation as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant. Always looking for an adventure, Amanda then embarked on a 5 month journey through Southeast Asia and India, both exploring and volunteering while gaining a new perspective of the world. She then returned home to gear up for another 3 month journey back to SE Asia, where she joined an Earthship build and learned local artisan techniques in jewelry making as well as permaculture and organic farming. Returning to the states, Amanda was ready to grow some roots and in 2017 she married her loving and supportive husband, Joel. Having known of Waldorf Education, she felt a calling to join the Bay Area Center For Waldorf Teacher Training. As soon as she signed up, she knew this was the best path for herself, her family, and her baby on the way. She began to attend the teacher training, work at Singing Stones and enrolled her stepson in their kindergarten program. Her son Ariah, was born into the world of Waldorf, and was able to join her as she assisted in the early childhood program at Morning Tree School. Amanda ran the East Bay Forest School Program from 2019 - 2023, hoping to create a safe space for young children to explore themselves, their relationships with others as well as their surroundings, settle into a strong rhythm, and learn how to be a part of the world in which we live.
Amanda Is now teaching at Wildcat Canyon Community School as well as Waldorf homeschooling families through the grades.
